Breastfeeding can be a challenging yet rewarding experience, especially for Black mothers who may face unique stigmas and require strong community support. Proper preparation, support, and understanding are crucial for navigating the breastfeeding journey successfully.

  • Consider prenatal breastfeeding classes: These classes provide hands-on learning about breastfeeding fundamentals, realistic expectations, and practical advice on topics like diaper changes and weaning. They help counter misinformation often found online. 1
  • Understand that breastfeeding isn’t always natural: Many new mothers encounter difficulties such as latching problems and pain. Learning to trust one’s body and seeking support can improve the experience over time. 2
  • Build a team of lactation professionals: International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, Certified Lactation Counselors, and breastfeeding educators can assist with clinical issues and general support. Resources like birth networks and specialized platforms can help locate experts. 2
  • Recognize when to seek help: Pain during feeding is not normal and indicates the need for professional support. Common issues include sore nipples, low milk supply, thrush, plugged ducts, mastitis, and inverted nipples. 2
  • Leverage community support at home: Assistance with daily tasks like meal preparation and household chores allows mothers to focus on nursing, especially in the critical first two weeks. Having breastfeeding essentials and nutritious foods on hand supports milk production. 3
  • Connect with other nursing mothers: Joining breastfeeding support groups, baby cafes, or social media communities offers moral support, social interaction, and encouragement to continue breastfeeding despite challenges. Maintaining motivation and a support plan is key.

  • LET’s GO TEXAS! Jasmine Crockett Steps Into the Senate Race

It looks like Texas politics just turned up the volume.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, one of the most unfiltered and unapologetic voices out of Dallas, officially filed to run for the U.S. Senate — and she did it right on the state’s filing deadline. The timing couldn’t have been more dramatic: her entrance came just hours after Colin Allred dropped out to reclaim his seat in Congress.

Now it’s Crockett versus James Talarico in the March 3 Democratic primary, both aiming for a shot at unseating Republican Sen. John Cornyn. And Cornyn’s not exactly coasting himself — he’s caught in a three-way battle with Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt for the GOP nomination.

Crockett, now in her second term, brings more than policy chops to this race. She’s got $4.6 million in campaign cash and a growing national reputation for standing her ground, especially in those viral showdowns with House Republicans that always seem to hit social media before the gavel even drops.

But Talarico’s not stepping aside. The Austin-based rep has raised an eye-catching $6.2 million, setting the stage for what’s likely to be one of the most costly and closely watched Democratic primaries the state has seen in years.

Texas hasn’t seen Democrats hold a statewide seat since 1988, but with women like Crockett stepping forward — representing a new generation of bold, culturally fluent leadership — the narrative might finally be shifting. This isn’t just politics; it’s a signal that Texas’ political identity is evolving, and Black women like Crockett are right in the heart of that transformation.

  • Todd Tucker’s Audacious Divorce Response: The Nerve

Let me tell you something—Todd Tucker has lost his entire mind with this divorce response, and I’m not here for any of it.

The Disrespect is Real. So Kandi Burruss files for divorce on November 21st after their marriage became “irretrievably broken,” asking for joint custody like any reasonable person would. And what does Todd do? Five days later, he comes back with legal papers asking for PRIMARY physical custody of their two children, Ace and Blaze. Primary custody? Really, Todd. But wait—it gets worse. This man has the unmitigated gall to challenge their prenuptial agreement from 2014. The same prenup he signed before they got married. Now all of a sudden, eleven years later, he claims he was “pressured” into signing it and didn’t have a lawyer present? Baby, please. Make it make sense.

Let’s be crystal clear about what’s happening here. Todd is essentially saying, “Not only do I want the kids primarily with me, but I also want to throw out the financial protections Kandi put in place and go after her money.” Because that’s exactly what invalidating a prenup means—he’d be seeking “equitable division of marital assets” and possibly alimony. Huh?
From Kandi Burruss. The woman who built her empire BEFORE she ever met him.
The filing tries to sound all diplomatic, calling Kandi “a loving and capable parent” and saying they’re “working cooperatively” and he’s “committed to continuing discussions in good faith.” But honey, there’s nothing good faith about blindsiding someone with a custody grab and a financial shakedown in the same filing.

The Math Isn’t Mathing. Now, Todd’s lawyers claim the kids are currently living in Georgia with him while Kandi handles “out-of-state work obligations.” And? That’s called having a career, sir. Kandi has been a successful businesswoman, singer, producer, and television personality for decades. Her traveling for work doesn’t make her less of a parent—it makes her a provider. But somehow Todd thinks this temporary arrangement while she’s working justifies him asking for primary custody and “final decision-making authority” if they can’t agree on things? The disrespect is palpable and shameful.

This whole response is a slap in the face to a woman who has consistently shown up for her family, built multiple businesses, and created generational wealth. And now her estranged husband—the man she trusted enough to marry, the man she had two children with—is coming for custody of those babies AND her pocketbook? I cannot.

Yes, they reunited for Thanksgiving, which shows they can be civil for their children’s sake. That’s what mature adults do. But don’t let that fool you into thinking this is all sunshine and cooperation behind the scenes.

Legal experts say claims about prenups being signed under pressure are “commonly raised” and carry “high evidentiary burdens.” Translation? Todd’s got an uphill battle proving he was somehow coerced into signing that agreement over a decade ago. Boy, Bye. And custody? That’s about the children’s best interests—stability and parental availability.
But here’s what really gets me: Kandi asked for JOINT custody from the jump. She wasn’t trying to cut Todd out or diminish his role. She was being fair and reasonable, thinking about what’s best for Ace and Blaze. And Todd responded by asking for primary custody and trying to blow up their prenup.

The Bottom Line is that this isn’t about coparenting or good faith negotiations. This is about a man who apparently feels entitled to more than what he agreed to—in parenting time AND in finances. It’s a power play wrapped in legal language, and it’s absolutely wild.
Kandi Burruss has been handling her business with grace and dignity for years. She deserves better than this mess. And Todd Tucker? Sir, you need to sit down somewhere and rethink this entire strategy. Because this ain’t it.

  • Outkast’s Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: A Triumph for Black Culture

When I heard the news that Outkast—our beloved Southern hip-hop pioneers—were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025, my heart swelled with pride. This isn’t just about music; it’s about legacy, representation, and the undeniable brilliance of Black artistry. I saw them in concert in the 90s and absolutely loved their performance.

    Breaking Barriers and Redefining Sound

Outkast didn’t just make hits—they shifted the culture. From Aquemini to Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, André 3000 and Big Boi challenged norms, celebrated individuality, and gave the South a voice that could not be ignored. Their creativity reminded the world that Black innovation knows no boundaries. And man oh man did Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik move me!!

The Ceremony: A Moment of Glory

On November 8, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Outkast stood among legends. Donald Glover delivered an induction speech that felt like a love letter to their artistry. Big Boi lit up the stage alongside Doja Cat, Janelle Monáe, Tyler, the Creator, Killer Mike, and JID—an ensemble of Black excellence. André 3000, ever the visionary, spoke with grace and humility, reminding us why their influence endures.

    Community Celebration

Atlanta showed out. The Hawks hosted an Outkast-themed night on December 3, featuring giveaways and a halftime tribute by Tri-Cities High School’s marching band—the same school that nurtured these icons. This wasn’t just a celebration; it was a homecoming.

    Why This Matters

Outkast’s induction is more than a milestone—it’s a cultural affirmation. It tells every young Black creative: your voice matters, your art matters, and your story deserves the highest recognition. This is what happens when we dare to dream boldly and unapologetically.
