Breastfeeding can be a challenging yet rewarding experience, especially for Black mothers who may face unique stigmas and require strong community support. Proper preparation, support, and understanding are crucial for navigating the breastfeeding journey successfully.
- Consider prenatal breastfeeding classes: These classes provide hands-on learning about breastfeeding fundamentals, realistic expectations, and practical advice on topics like diaper changes and weaning. They help counter misinformation often found online. 1
- Understand that breastfeeding isn’t always natural: Many new mothers encounter difficulties such as latching problems and pain. Learning to trust one’s body and seeking support can improve the experience over time. 2
- Build a team of lactation professionals: International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, Certified Lactation Counselors, and breastfeeding educators can assist with clinical issues and general support. Resources like birth networks and specialized platforms can help locate experts. 2
- Recognize when to seek help: Pain during feeding is not normal and indicates the need for professional support. Common issues include sore nipples, low milk supply, thrush, plugged ducts, mastitis, and inverted nipples. 2
- Leverage community support at home: Assistance with daily tasks like meal preparation and household chores allows mothers to focus on nursing, especially in the critical first two weeks. Having breastfeeding essentials and nutritious foods on hand supports milk production. 3
- Connect with other nursing mothers: Joining breastfeeding support groups, baby cafes, or social media communities offers moral support, social interaction, and encouragement to continue breastfeeding despite challenges. Maintaining motivation and a support plan is key.

SALT-N-PEPA LOSE LANDMARK LAWSUIT: Judge Rules Against Hip-Hop Pioneers in Master Recording Battle!
A federal judge just dealt a DEVASTATING blow to Salt-N-Pepa’s fight to reclaim their master recordings from Universal Music Group. This affects EVERY artist fighting for their rights! 💔
The Ruling: U.S. District Judge Denise Cote sided with UMG Thursday, arguing Salt-N-Pepa NEVER owned the copyrights to their sound recordings and therefore can’t reclaim them.
Judge’s Words: “Plaintiffs can only terminate copyright transfers that they executed. None of the contracts identified by Plaintiffs indicate that they ever owned the Master Tapes.”

The Legal Battle:
- UMG argued the recordings were “works made for hire” (blocking rights reclamation)
- Salt-N-Pepa claimed their agreements proved otherwise
- They invoked the 1976 Copyright Act (artists can reclaim masters after 35 years)
Salt-N-Pepa’s Response: “We disagree with the judge’s decision and fully intend to pursue our rights on appeal. We remain committed to vindicating and reclaiming our rights as creators under the Copyright Act.”
The Legacy: Queens, NY duo Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton:
- Formed in 1985
- Debut album “Hot, Cool & Vicious” (1986) on Next Plateau Records
- Hits: “Shoop” (1993), “Push It” (1987)
- First female rap group to win a Grammy (1995)
- Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2021)
- Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Influence Award (November 2024) – second female hip-hop act after Missy Elliott!
Salt’s Powerful Words at Hall of Fame Induction: “We have to keep using our influence until the industry honors creativity the way the audience does—with LOVE, RESPECT and FAIRNESS.”
Why This Matters: This case affects EVERY Black artist from the ’80s and ’90s fighting to own their creative work. If pioneers like Salt-N-Pepa can’t reclaim their masters, what does that mean for the next generation? The fight continues! ✊🏾

LIL DURK MURDER TRIAL DELAYED AGAIN: Rapper Says “Let’s Go to Trial NOW!”
🚨Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial just got pushed AGAIN—but the Chicago rapper is fighting the delay, claiming the case against him is WEAK! ⚖️
The Latest Delay:
- 📅 Was set for: January 20, 2026
- 📅 Now pushed to: May 4, 2026
- 📅 Previous delays: Originally January 2025 → October 2025 → January 2026

Why the Delay? Three of Durk’s five co-defendants requested MORE time after prosecutors dropped an OVERWHELMING evidence dump:
- 30,000+ pages of investigative reports
- Surveillance footage from multiple states
- Jail calls and wiretaps
- DNA and ballistics analysis
Durk’s Bold Move: The rapper OPPOSES the delay! He’s been jailed since October 2024 and has spent 131 DAYS in solitary confinement. His legal team argues the government is dragging its feet, and Durk wants to go to trial IMMEDIATELY—signaling he believes the prosecution’s case is WEAK! 💪🏾
The Charges: Prosecutors allege Durk ordered a 2022 hit on rival rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo survived, but his cousin Lul Pab was killed. The feds claim:
- OTF (Only The Family) collective is a “hybrid gang”
- OTF funds financed the attack
- If convicted: MANDATORY LIFE SENTENCE
The Culture Impact: This case represents the criminalization of hip-hop collectives and the way prosecutors use lyrics, associations, and success against Black artists. Durk’s willingness to go to trial NOW shows confidence—or desperation to end 131 days of solitary confinement.
The streets are watching. May 4, 2026 could change hip-hop forever. 👀

After the Tragedy: Anthony Joshua Honors Friends Lost in Nigerian Accident
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua recently addressed the public following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends. As a passenger in a Lexus SUV, Joshua sustained minor injuries when the vehicle collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan highway. Sadly, his team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, did not survive.
After receiving medical care, Joshua returned to the UK to attend the funerals of Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, his personal trainer. On Instagram, he shared images with his mother and others, including a tribute to Ghami, captioned “My Brothers Keeper.”
Authorities in Nigeria have charged the driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, with dangerous driving causing death, with a court appearance scheduled for January 20. Joshua, who has Nigerian heritage, was visiting after his recent victory over Jake Paul in Miami.
